Faces of India
Rishikesh, located in the laps of the lower Himalayas, is considered to be sacred as it is believed that meditation at this place leads to attainment of salvation. Many temples line the river Ganges, alongside the ashrams of Sadhus and sages.
During our Yatra to India in the spring of 2005, we came across many people. People from all walks of life, young and old, rich and poor. Yet one of the unifying themes was their friendliness, hospitality, compassion and outlook on life.
Although we only had the chance to visit the north - Delhi, Rishikesh and Amritsar - it was nevertheless quite the experience. So much so that we'll have to return for more, some day.
Enjoy.
